How customers buy gift cards

Purchasing a gift card takes less than a minute. On your booking page, customers select the gift card option and follow a simple flow:

Choose the amount. Customers enter any amount they want. Whether it's €25 for a small treat or €150 for a complete makeover — they decide.

Add a personal touch. A gift card feels more personal with a message. Customers can write their own text that's included in the delivery email.

Select the recipient. The gift card can be sent directly to the recipient's email address, or to the buyer if they want to give it in person.

Pay securely. Payment happens via Mollie with all common payment methods: iDEAL, credit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and more.

Instant delivery. Immediately after payment, the recipient receives a beautifully designed email with the gift card details and a unique code.

Flexible redemption

When a customer with a gift card books an appointment, they enter their code at checkout. Bookura handles the rest automatically:

Full coverage. If the gift card value covers the entire treatment, no additional payment is needed. The appointment is confirmed instantly.

Partial payment. If the treatment costs more than the gift card balance, the customer pays the difference via Mollie. Simple and seamless.

Balance preserved. If the gift card has more value than the booking, only the needed amount is deducted. The remaining balance stays on the card for next time.

Always in control

Every gift card has a unique 12-character code in the format XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX. In your dashboard, you see all sold gift cards with their current status:

• Pending — Created but not yet paid
• Active — Paid and ready to use
• Depleted — Balance fully used
• Expired — Validity period has passed

Gift cards are valid for 2 years from the purchase date. The remaining balance is tracked in real-time, so you and your customers always know exactly what's available.

Automatic refunds

What happens when a customer cancels an appointment that was paid with a gift card? The balance is automatically restored. If the card was fully depleted, it becomes active again. Everything is logged transparently — no manual corrections needed.

Professional communication

Bookura sends automatic emails at key moments:

• Purchase confirmation — The buyer receives a confirmation with all gift card details
• Gift delivery — The recipient receives the gift card with the personal message (if a different email was provided)
• Booking confirmation — When the gift card is used, the booking confirmation shows the payment method
